James Mayo successfully completes financial planner development programme

We are delighted to announce that James Mayo has successfully completed his training and is now an authorised Financial Planner at Walker Crips Financial Planning (“WCFP”).

James embarked on his journey with us just over three years ago, when he joined WCFP as part of our Trainee Financial Planner Development Programme. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in our client support and report writing departments, laying down good foundations for his career in financial planning.

James’s dedication and commitment has been evident throughout his training. Towards the end of 2023, he achieved a significant milestone by obtaining his CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. At the start of this year, James began working closely with our Regional Director, Matthew Crawshaw who has mentored him and gradually introduced him to a portfolio of established clients in the North of England.

Over the past few months, James has taken the lead in managing these relationships, marking the final stage of his training. He will continue to share his time between our York office, where he will work with existing clients and Manchester, where he will focus on developing new business opportunities for WCFP in the North West.

In addition to his current role, James is making good progress towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner. Earlier this year he passed the CII AF5 Financial Planning Process exam and is preparing for further exams in the coming months.

James Mayo commented on his achievement:

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support and guidance I’ve received from the team at Walker Crips, especially Matthew Crawshaw, during my journey to becoming an authorised financial planner. I’m excited to continue building relationships with our clients and contributing to the growth in our presence in the North of England.”

Matthew Crawshaw, Regional Director added:

“It has been a pleasure to mentor James and witness his growth and development as a financial planner this year. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to his professional development, and I’m confident that he will continue to make a positive impact on our clients and the business as a whole. I am also very excited to be continuing to work with our other trainees and interns who are coming through the ranks at Walker Crips and hope they will emulate James’s success in the not-so-distant future.”
